A community card is dealt face-up in the centre of the table and shared by all players to form their final hand. In Texas Hold'em, five community cards appear: the flop (three cards), the turn (one card) and the river (one card).

An ante is a small forced bet every player at the table must place before cards are dealt. It builds the pot so there's always something to play for, even before the first betting round begins.

A side bet is an optional wager on a separate outcome, such as whether you'll be dealt a pair or whether the flop will contain three suited cards. It pays independently of your main hand and follows its own payout table.

Blinds are mandatory bets posted by two players before each hand starts. The small blind sits left of the dealer button and posts half the minimum bet; the big blind sits next and posts the full minimum. Blinds rotate clockwise every hand.

A burn card is the top card of the deck discarded face-down by the dealer before revealing the flop, turn or river. It prevents players from seeing marked backs and ensures the next community card is unknown until it's officially dealt.

A showdown happens when two or more players remain after the final betting round. Each reveals their hole cards, and the player with the strongest five-card hand according to poker rankings wins the pot. If hands tie, the pot splits equally.
